French Links:

As part of Sudbury’s link to the town of Clermont in Picardy a strong relationship has developed between Sudbury Choral Society and the Chorale de Clermont, which forms part of the overall Clermont musical organisation- the Harmonie Municipale de Clermont.

Sudbury Choral Society visited Clermont and the two choirs gave a very well attended concert at the Chorale de Clermont’s regular venue, the church of St Samson of Clermont. The concert included a spirited joint rendition of the Vivaldi Gloria.

Clermont came to Sudbury as part of the overall Town Twinning visit, and Sudbury’s mayor welcomed all the visitors in the Town Hall. The weekend was full of activity and celebrations, culminating in another highly successful concert, this time at Sudbury Choral Society’s home venue St Peter's Church.  Both choirs performed programmes of folk music from their own country and the two choirs joined for a finale in French, led by Katherine Forestier and David Butcher, the two Musical Directors.
